Simple Tools is a collection of free, browser-based utilities. We take a privacy-first approach: the tools do their work locally on your device, and we keep server-side data collection to the minimum needed to run a website.

What we don't collect

Your files never leave your browser. Your files are processed in your browser and are never uploaded to our servers. Documents, images, spreadsheets, audio files, or any other input you provide to a tool are handled entirely by JavaScript running on your own device. No file content is transmitted to us or to any third party.

We do not maintain user accounts, do not require registration, and do not store any personally identifiable information about your tool usage.

What we do collect

When your browser loads a page on this site, standard web-request metadata is processed. This includes:

• Your IP address (processed by our hosting provider to deliver the page — see "Hosting and infrastructure" below)
• Browser type and version (User-Agent header)
• Referring URL (if any)
• Date and time of the request
• The page URL requested

This data is a by-product of how the internet works. We do not build profiles from it and do not link it to individuals.

Third-party services

Analytics (self-hosted)

We measure aggregate usage with Umami, a privacy-focused, open-source analytics tool that we run ourselves on the same server as this site — there is no third-party analytics company involved. We record aggregate metrics (page views, referrers, device types) and a few anonymous events, such as which tools are used and searches made in the on-site search box.

• It uses no cookies and no local storage.
• It stores no personal data and creates no persistent identifiers or fingerprints; full IP addresses are not stored.
• It performs no cross-site tracking; all metrics are aggregated and cannot be traced back to an individual.
• Because we host it ourselves, your usage data is not shared with any third-party analytics provider; it is stored on the same server described under "Hosting and infrastructure" below.

Because this analytics sets no cookies and stores no personal data, no cookie-consent banner is required. We rely on our legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) in understanding aggregate usage of the site: it is a proportionate means of improving the service, no individual is singled out or profiled, and no cross-site tracking takes place. You have the right to object at any time (Art. 21 GDPR); as the analytics is cookieless there is no browser opt-out to toggle, so to object please contact us at info [at] speecon.com.

Google AdSense (when enabled)

We may display advertisements served by Google AdSense. When AdSense is active, Google may set cookies and use device identifiers to show personalised or contextual ads. Google acts as a data controller for the data it collects through its advertising network.

For visitors in the European Economic Area (EEA) and the UK, we will use a consent mechanism (Consent Management Platform) before any AdSense personalisation cookies are set. You can withdraw or change your consent at any time via the consent banner or settings link on the page.

Cookies

Simple Tools itself sets no cookies, and our self-hosted analytics (Umami) sets no cookies. If Google AdSense is enabled in the future and you have given consent, Google may set advertising cookies — see the section above. Your browser's cookie settings always remain under your own control.

Hosting and infrastructure

The site is hosted on a virtual private server provided by Hostinger (Hostinger International Ltd.), acting as a processor on our behalf under a data processing agreement, solely to deliver and secure the website. The server is currently located in the United States, so the standard web-request metadata described above is processed outside the EEA; this transfer is safeguarded by the Standard Contractual Clauses contained in the hosting provider's data processing agreement (Art. 46(2)(c) GDPR). Server access logs containing this metadata are retained only briefly (typically up to 30 days) for security and troubleshooting, then deleted. TLS certificates are obtained automatically from Let's Encrypt.

Your GDPR rights

If you are located in the EEA or the UK, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) gives you a number of rights regarding your personal data:

• Right of access — you may request information about what personal data we hold about you.
• Right to rectification — you may ask us to correct inaccurate data.
• Right to erasure — you may ask us to delete personal data we hold about you.
• Right to restriction of processing — you may ask us to restrict how we use your data.
• Right to data portability — you may request a copy of your data in a machine-readable format.
• Right to object — you may object to processing based on legitimate interests or for direct marketing.
• Right to withdraw consent — where processing is based on your consent, you may withdraw it at any time.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. In Germany, the relevant authority is the data protection commissioner of your federal state (Landesbeauftragter für Datenschutz).
