About the number to words converter
The converter spells numbers in standard US English, grouping by thousands, millions, billions and trillions with correct hyphenation ("thirty-four", "ninety-nine"). Negative values are prefixed with "negative", and decimals are read digit by digit in Words mode. The Currency style follows the check-writing convention used on US checks and legal documents, writing whole dollars in words and cents as a fraction over 100 — handy for filling out checks, drafting contracts and invoices, or double-checking amounts you have to write by hand.
Questions
Is anything uploaded?
No. The conversion runs entirely in your browser — the numbers you type never leave your device.
How large a number can it handle?
Up to 999,999,999,999,999 — that is, anything below one quadrillion. Larger inputs show a friendly limit message instead of a wrong answer.
What does the Currency style do?
It writes the amount the way you would on a US check: dollars in words, cents as a fraction, e.g. "one thousand two hundred thirty-four dollars and 56/100". Cents come from the first two decimal places.
